Developer Comment: We're changing Horrify to no longer be able to be interrupted during its cast. It was never intended to have a long cast time, and due to its unique setup we've had a lot of bug reports over the years due to it being interrupted and being put in a 10-second cooldown, but its sound still going off. This change should fix the issue and get rid of the confusion.

Developer Comment: Darkness Within has always been a bit of an outlier compared to Gul'dan's other talents at 16. We're trying something new with this iteration, which is now about keeping a rolling Spell Power buff going by continuing to deal damage to enemy Heroes and, if Gul'dan can do this, having a better engine to fuel his abilities. We're hoping that this makes Darkness Within a powerful and different feeling option compared to the other talents on the tier.

Developer Comment: Rain of Destruction has not been the predominant Heroic since Gul'dan's release. We believe there are two reasons for this: the first being that it has some randomness to its output in regards to where the meteors land, and the second being that it requires Gul'dan to channel for 7 seconds, which gives his opponents an incredibly long time to interrupt him while also not allowing him to use his other abilities or provide any other output during that time. We're targeting the second issue with this change, which will allow Gul'dan to gain the ability to move and use his abilities while the Rain of Destruction is happening. We may in the future look at the randomness of the Heoric's meteors, but at this time we want to try this change as it retains most of the original fantasy of Gul'dan raining Hellfire upon his enemies. We're also improving some of Gul'dan's lesser picked talents. We realize that he has some fundamental issues with Corruption focused talents dominating his talent tree, and are looking at exploring ways in the future to make alternative ways to play more meaningfully competitive.

Developer Comment: Our resident warlock has been in and out of the meta a couple times since his epic release and his Talent tree has become a bit lopsided. We began these changes by looking at Rain of Destruction (even going as far as testing the Ability without a channel!) but quickly realized that we would need more than just a balance patch to appropriately address the Heroic. We were, however, able to make some Talent adjustments that will hopefully give players fun new ways to drain the life from their opponents!

Developer Comment: Gul'dan's slightly underperforming compared to other assassins, so we're giving him some throughput buffs as well as buffing his Fel Flame ability. We know that the Echoed Corruption change may not be positively received as it is a slight nerf, but we believe it is better for the health of his talent tier and for him overall. The intent of this talent was for it to be a relatively large power spike but for it to come very late into the game. Currently it's still being unlocked earlier than we would like, and it has a slightly higher win rate compared to other talents on the tier. We wanted to buff Corruption by lowering its cooldown, so we felt that it was appropriate to slightly increase its quest completion time to help balance it out.

Developer Comment: While he has an acceptable win rate in the hands of experienced players, we felt that Gul'dan could use a few minor buffs and talent tweaks to help make his talent tiers more competitive. His Echo of Corruption quest ended up being completed earlier than we intended for such a strong effect, so we're increasing the amount of Hero hits required. We are also are seeing a higher win rate for his Ruinous Affliction talent compared to others on his Level 16 tier. Rather than nerf this talent, we decided to buff the other options to make the tier more competitive and to make his late-game power spike more powerful.
