Developer Comment: We always have to be careful about introducing too much power into Hero designs that are both mobile and bursty, because even if they are balanced on paper, they can feel extremely oppressive to play against. When this does happen, our normal reaction is to slowly tune those Heroes down until they don't feel awful to play against. Unfortunately, this can cause a variety of issues; in Tracer's case, she became extremely reliant on a handful of other Heroes to really open up her kit and make it work. With her rework, we focused on trying to make her feel a bit more self-reliant while also giving opponents a bit more time to react to her Recall and lock her down. On top of this, we have rebuilt her talent tree in order to give our Pulse-Pistol wielding Heroine some fun new options while she time-jumps around the Nexus.

While we understand that reducing her burst damage via Melee and Pulse Bomb are significant nerfs to her power, we are compensating her by increasing her Health and Basic Attack damage. This should reward Tracer players who are able to bob and weave through opposing skillshots while staying on their target.

Developer Comment: For the most part, Tracer's talents are in a pretty healthy spot, but we had a few outliers that we wanted to fix - particularly Spatial Echo and Total Recall. The intent of Spatial Echo was to give Tracer a moment of power in comparison to the other two talents on her tier, which are more generally useful and help her have more Blink casts throughout a game. While its win rate was in line with other talents, its pick rate was dominating the tier, and we weren't happy with how much it let Tracer use her Recall as a "get out of jail free card" due to the guaranteed blinks that she would always have afterwards. Now she can still have the same moment of power, but she will have to get in and get the kill in order to Recall out to safety.

Total Recall is a great fantasy hit for us, but it comes at the cost of giving Tracer something that she really wants in the form of self-sustain. We're adding the downside of increasing the cooldown of Recall to the talent in order to make players think a little more about when they want to take the talent.

Developer Comment: For the most part, Tracer's talents are in a pretty healthy spot, but we had a few outliers that we wanted to fix - particularly Spatial Echo and Total Recall. The intent of Spatial Echo was to give Tracer a moment of power in comparison to the other two talents on her tier, which are more generally useful and help her have more Blink casts throughout a game. While its win rate was in line with other talents, its pick rate was dominating the tier, and we weren't happy with how much it let Tracer use her Recall as a "get out of jail free card" due to the guaranteed blinks that she would always have afterwards. Now she can still have the same moment of power, but she will have to get in and get the kill in order to Recall out to safety.

Total Recall is a great fantasy hit for us, but it comes at the cost of giving Tracer something that she really wants in the form of self-sustain. We're adding the downside of increasing the cooldown of Recall to the talent in order to make players think a little more about when they want to take the talent.

Developer Comment: As we're sure many of you have noticed, Tracer is performing just a little too well on all fronts. While we are excited to bring her to the Nexus, we understand that in the right hands, she can be an absolute terror to the enemy team. We're lowering her Health, Basic Attack damage, and increasing Recall's cooldown to make her less universally powerful. We're going to be giving back some of that Basic Attack damage on her Level 16 Talent tier to further separate Sleight of Hand from the other options, which should help the choice between more Pulse Bomb charges vs. stronger Basic Attacks feel like a more meaningful decision.

We also saw an opportunity to help improve her Talent pick rates, so we're making minor adjustments to Pulse Strike and Slipstream.

We'll continue to keep a close eye on her, as we believe she is similar to Illidan, where the right place from a balance perspective is more narrow than most of our other Heroes.

Trait

  • Reload (D)
    • Your Basic Attacks can be fired while moving, and each shot costs ammo.
    • After attacking 10 times, you will automatically Reload your ammo over 0.75 seconds. You can activate Reload to manually replenish your ammo at any time.

Basic Abilities

  • Blink (Q)
    • Dash a short distance. Stores up to 3 charges. 6 second charge cooldown.
  • Melee (W)
    • Deal damage to an enemy at close range, prioritizing Heroes.
    • Generates 5% of your Pulse Bomb charge when striking an enemy, and 10% when striking an enemy Hero.
  • Recall (E)
    • Bound backward in time, returning to the position you were in 3 seconds ago, instantly reloading your ammo, and removing all negative status effects.

Heroic Abilities

  • Pulse Bomb (R)
    • Lob a short-range bomb that will adhere to the terrain or the first enemy it hits. The bomb explodes after 1.5 seconds, dealing heavy damage to an enemy caught at the center of the blast, and half-damage to enemies nearby.
